On the 22 nd of April 2024, the globe answered a call to action for World Earth Day. The theme, "Planet vs. Plastics," resonated deeply with us at Switch Recycling, and we teamed up with Marble Advisory to amplify the urgent need to tackle plastic pollution and champion a healthier planet. It was an inspiring day of connection and commitment, and we wanted to share the impactful moments we experienced right here in Lagos!

Our Earth Day journey kicked off at the prestigious Kings College in Marina. The energy was fantastic as we engaged with the school's bright prefects and dedicated administrators. We dove into crucial conversations about why caring for our Earth matters more than ever. This was also the perfect opportunity to introduce the Switch Recycling app, our game-changing initiative that is turning the tide on waste collection and management. Imagine a way to transform waste into real value, all while making responsible disposal easy through our user-friendly mobile app! The students and staff were incredibly receptive, and their enthusiasm for a greener future was truly contagious.

Next, we had the distinct honor of visiting NGX Limited on Custom Street, Lagos Island. We connected with Mr. Jude Chiemeka, Chief Executive Officer, and Mr. Tony Ibeziako, Head of Primary Markets, for insightful discussions on sustainability. It was a proud moment to showcase the tangible progress and vision of Switch Recycling. The fact that Mr. Tony the CEO expressed a keen interest in investing in our mission, truly underscored the growing recognition that sustainability isn't just a trend but an absolute necessity.

Our day of impact culminated at Eko Akete Grammar School, where we had the pleasure of engaging with the school's class captains, prefects, and dedicated teachers. The dialogue centered around the significance of World Earth Day and our unwavering commitment to sustainable practices through Switch Recycling. The sheer enthusiasm and genuine interest we encountered were incredibly encouraging, signaling a powerful wave of support for a more sustainable future.

Tuesday, June 4: Community Sensitization in Agege and Asaba

We kicked off with a boots-on-the-ground awareness campaign in the vibrant communities of Agege in Lagos state and Asaba in Delta state Nigeria. Alongside the FBRA team, we walked the streets, connecting with locals on how everyday waste contributes to flooding and disease and how it can instead become a resource. Residents were introduced to the Switch Recycling App, which allows users to sell plastic waste and other recyclables by the kilogram either at collection centres or digitally via the app. The buzz was real, and the message was loud: Your waste is worth something, so switch your trash to cash.

Wednesday, June 5: Lekki Waste-Free City Walk

Midweek, the energy spiked with our Waste-Free City Awareness Walk along Admiralty Way, Lekki. With FBRA, LAWMA, 7Up Bottling Company, International Breweries, and other sustainability champions, we marched in unity, raising awareness about urban cleanliness and recycling. The streets were alive with color, camaraderie, and cause thousands of steps echoing one powerful message: Sustainability starts with each of us.

Thursday, June 6: School Advocacy in Surulere

Next stop: the classroom. We visited Lagos Progressive Junior Secondary School in Surulere for a lively session with the leaders of tomorrow. In collaboration with NESREA, we explored the effects of pollution and the power of personal responsibility. The highlight? A hands-on demo of the Switch Recycling concept and tree planting exercise. With generous support from UAC Foods Limited and CWAY Group, we ended the day with smiles and snacks leaving behind a new generation of eco-conscious ambassadors.

Saturday, June 8: Beach Clean-Up + Family Fun on World Oceans Day

To wrap up the week, we went big. On World Oceans Day, our team joined forces at Kids Beach Garden, Elegushi, for a massive beach clean-up and a splash of fun. Partnering with FBRA, UAC Foods, and others, we cleared the shoreline of litter and celebrated our progress with games, competitions, and community bonding. It was a day of action, joy, and renewed commitment to protecting our planet.

In February 2025, Switch Recycling reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability and social impact through one of her core pillars – Waste for Charity this time with a powerful gesture of giving.
At the official launch of the Nurturing Dreams Foundation, our team proudly presented a ₦5 million donation to support the foundation’s mission: empowering young people, nurturing potential, and driving positive change in underserved communities.

Since our launch in 2022, Switch Recycling has rapidly expanded its reach to 8 states across Nigeria, establishing a network of 21 collection centers powered by over 7,500 dedicated agents and partners. April 2025 – In a bold move that underscores its leadership in sustainable innovation, Polysmart Packaging Limited, through its Special Purpose Vehicle, Polysmart SPV Limited, has announced the launch of a ₦2 billion Green Non-Interest Commercial Paper (NICP). This landmark issuance is not only a major milestone for the company but also a defining moment for ethical investing in Nigeria’s recycling and manufacturing sectors.

Polysmart is transforming Nigeria’s plastic waste crisis into an economic opportunity. The company specializes in converting post-consumer plastic bottles and other recyclables into food-grade recycled PET (rPET) flakes and resin and non-food grade LLD, HDPE among others for packaging, offering a scalable, circular solution to one of Africa’s most urgent environmental challenges.

The funds raised through this Green NICP will be strategically deployed to expand Polysmart’s sourcing and processing capacity, enabling the company to recover thousands of tons of plastic waste across the country and convert it into high-value, eco- friendly packaging materials.

Backed by Marble Capital Limite and AVA Capital Partners, two of Nigeria’s leading names in ethical finance, the issuance is listed on the FMDQ Securities Exchange, ensuring market visibility and credibility. The subscription window ran from April 23 to April 29, 2025, offering investors a unique opportunity to align their portfolios with environmental and social impact without compromising returns.

This Green NICP is structured to offer Shariah-compliant, short-term returns, making it an attractive proposition for institutional and private investors seeking to drive measurable ESG impact through compliant instruments.
